To Colorado Republican legislators, especially Rep. Don Coram (R-Montrose): “Your representative owes you, not his industry only, but his judgment; and he betrays instead of serving you if he sacrifices it to your opinion.” – Edmund Burke, 18th-century Member of Parliament and founder of modern conservatism thought.
In an incredible piece of irony, Coram, whose son Dee is gay, found himself as the decider of the fate of the civil unions bill. It wasn’t to be that way, but the Cosmos has a way of thrusting us into situations on a moment’s notice to see how we’ll respond.
This was Coram’s crucible, his moment in history and he failed. He buckled. He cowered. He wimped out.
